Sports Facilities at Beaucamps are hailed as ‘sublime’

Les Beaucamps High’s sports facilities have gone from the ‘ridiculous’ to the ‘sublime’ its head of PE has said.

The second phase of the school rebuild has now been completed and the new sports hall, gym, swimming pool and outdoor games areas are in full use.

The modern new facilities are a welcome addition for staff and students who previously used a cramped gym and tired and damp changing rooms.

Head of PE Nick Roberts said the new sports block was a massive improvement. ‘I don’t think I have seen better sports facilities in any other school before – even those I worked in in England,’ he said.’The level of finish is just fantastic. We’ve come from the ridiculous to the sublime. ‘It’s been a long time coming – I have been here for 11 years now. The students think it’s fantastic and they want to be in here all the time.’

Previously, students had to travel to other facilities in the island to be taught sports such as cricket and swimming. That meant lesson times were cut short. But Mr. Roberts said having such good facilities on site meant there was no travel time and a lot more content could be fitted in during lessons.
