RG Falla was delighted to achieve practical completion at Ladies College on 6th September 2016.
When first tendered, the project was deemed to be a two year project involving the relocation of temporary classrooms, the construction of a four storey extension, the refurbishment of the existing entrance and administration areas before finally removing temporary classrooms and landscaping the external areas surrounding the site.
RG Falla proposed a revised construction programme of just 60 weeks which was successfully achieved on 6th September 2016 prior to the new academic year. The new extension provides the college with eight new classrooms, music practice rooms, a music performance room, a new commercial kitchen and refectory, a new library as well as additional WCs, changing rooms, learning support rooms and a basement to house the plant room and provide additional storage. Work commenced in July 2015 and was completed to allow beneficial access to Ladies College from July 2016.
The refurbishment of the administration area was completed successfully in just nine weeks during the 2016 summer holidays. The work included a complete strip out of the existing kitchen, dining area and admin areas. The front façade was removed and replaced with limestone rainscreen cladding and curtain walling. The roof was thermally upgraded and roof coverings renewed. Internally, new offices and reception area were formed and the staffroom was refurbished. RG Falla Project Director Paul Mason said:
“It was a fantastic team effort from the design team, the college staff, the various subcontractors as well as our own team. The project went from one critical period to another critical period to the final critical period. It was a pleasure handing over to such a delighted Client”
